Accessibility
Statement prepared on 1 October 2026.
Our aim
We want everyone to be able to use this site: with a screen reader, with the keyboard alone, with larger text or without animation. We aim for level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2).
What we have done
- Every photo has a text description, and the words of the film at the top are real text.
- Everything works with the keyboard: the photo viewer (arrow keys, Esc to close), the sun in “A day in the shade” (arrow keys) and the calendar (arrow keys move between days, Enter picks one).
- Focus is always visible, and every page starts with a “Skip to the content” link.
- Text has enough contrast with its background.
- Nothing on the page plays by itself: the film and the photo stories move only as you scroll, and stop when you stop. The page follows your device’s “reduce motion” setting, and “Stop animations” at the foot of every page stops the drifting shade and every other small movement, and remembers it.
- Every field in the enquiry form has a label, and errors are written out in words that screen readers read aloud.
- Text can be enlarged to 200%, and the site works on a narrow screen without scrolling sideways.
What is not perfect yet
- The map comes from Google Maps and is not fully accessible. The address and the distances are also written out in the “Around” section.
How we checked
With automated tools (Lighthouse and axe), by hand with the keyboard, at 200% zoom and with animations off. Last checked on 1 October 2026.
